ARTSEASONS CAPETOWN 2007

We would be delighted to welcome you to the exclusive sneak preview of the exhibition (featuring Georg Baselitz, Yayoi Kusama, Frank Stella a.o.). The exhibition installed from 4 February to 4 March 2007 at the Wine Estate L’Ormarins will be held under the auspices of Princess Christine and Prince Franz von Auersperg.

The following artists of our international program (Galerie Caprice Horn/Berlin) will be on preview with their works from 4 Feb to 4 March:

MASLEN & MEHRA
LUKAS MAXIMILIAN HÜLLER
MARTIN HEINIG

The British-Australian duo Maslen & Mehra are currently scoring with their photographs in which urban human existence is placed into an apparently ambivalent relation to nature. Artistically, the seemingly surreal, but non-manipulated pictures reflect the question of where we come from, how our environment affects us and where we belong to. The Austrian photographer Lukas Maximilian Hüller likewise approaches in his cycle of work a subject with a longstanding tradition: sin. What role do the Seven Deadly Sins have today? With fastidious attention to detail, he creates brilliant narratives with a contemporary interpretation of the subject matter. Man is also the central focus of Martin Heinig’s work. The Berlin-based master pupil of Georg Baselitz interprets and even distorts the head with passion and exemplary artistic aptitude. Underneath each thickly applied brush stroke, individual personal characteristics lie hidden. Do Heinig’s paintings reveal the human being here and now or a kind of Dorian Gray counterfeit?
